Do not give up the buying. It was never the flaw in you.

The reviews read twice, the sizes double-checked, the returns avoided
by choosing well the first time — that is a real skill,
and skills do not need retiring.

Spend it on somebody once, deliberately.
Find the newest person in the room, training on borrowed shoes,
and buy the one thing they actually need,
and say nothing about the brand you nearly bought instead.

You will not enjoy it the way you enjoyed the parcels.
You will enjoy it more, and only once.
