A man spent four years driving his daughter to swimming on Saturday mornings
and waiting forty-five minutes in a corridor that smelled of chlorine,
reading the same free newspaper.

In the fifth year he began bringing a kettlebell and using the car park.
At the end of that year he counted back through the calendar
and found that the corridor sessions were the only ones he had never once missed.
Everything he had fought the calendar for, the calendar had quietly taken back.
