Somebody ran the best-attended running club in the city for six years:
the route sheets, the birthdays, the café booked ahead for afterwards.

In the seventh year they were ill for a month and the club ran without them,
and they found out two things in the same fortnight.
That it ran perfectly well without them.
And that they had not got any faster in six years.

Only one of those hurt, and it was not the first one.
